APD´s Industrial Division gets the award to automate a new Desalination Plant in Djibouti.

APD has recently received the contract award for the design, integration and installation of the automation project of a Desalination plant currently under construction in Djibouti.

The seawater desalination plant will be located in Doraleh, and will support the efforts to improve the drinking water supply of the city of Djibouti, capital of the Republic of the same name located in the Horn of Africa.

The project aims to build a reverse osmosis desalination plant with an initial capacity of up to 22,500 m3 / day, with civil engineering infrastructure designed to undertake a future expansion up to 45,000 m3 / day, supplying water to an estimated population of 200.000 people.

Within this project, APD´s Industrial Division will design and supply the complete Control and Automation System of the plant, basing its technical solution on PCS7, one of the most advanced tools available nowadays on Distributed Control Systems.

Within APD´s scope will be the manufacture of all the control cabinets, the supply and configuration of the supervision system and the complete programming, testing and commissioning of all the Plant processing system.

This project has as a total budget 46 million euros, 5.5 million directly financed by the state of Djibouti and 40.5 million by the European Union (EU), as part of the community initiative "Sustainable Energy for All”
With this new contract, APD strengthens its presence in the design and implementation of complex international "turnkey" projects in the area of Industrial Automation.
